How old do children need to be to go on tour?

Children riding their own quad must be 6 years old. Children as young as 4 years can ride as a passenger with the guide. The minimum age for the Edge of the Earth Quad Adventure is 10 years, if there are any riders in your group aged 15 years or under then you will get a FREE upgrade to a Private Tour. A free Private Tour upgrade also applies to an All Terrain Quad Adventure if the group includes any riders under the age of 12 years.
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult

What if my child can't ride a quad bike for that amount of time?

At any time during the tour, if you, your child, or our highly trained guides feel that your child has had enough, or their concentration is slipping, or they are no longer riding safely, they can complete the tour as a passenger with the guide on one of our specialised multi-seat ATV’s.

Where do passengers sit?

Those wanting to experience the excitement of quad biking but are not confident to ride on their own can enjoy the tour as a passenger riding with the guide. Our eight seater Viking ATV can accommodate the guide and two passengers on the front seat, and three additional passengers on each of the two back seats.

I've never ridden a quad bike before, is that a problem?

Our tours cater to all levels of experience. Your guide will take you through quad operation step-by-step to ensure your safety and enjoyment while on tour. All tours start a safety briefing, and time to familiarise yourself with the quad on our practice track.

Is there a guide on all tours?

Yes, you will be led by one of our experience guides at all times. With over 30kms of trails to ride on, our guides will choose the best trails for your group and will endeavour to find wildlife along the way.

What time do tours start?

We open at 9am every day (except Christmas day), Let us know your preferred time and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Do I need to book?

It’s recommended you book, particularly if you have a limited time on Kangaroo Island to ensure you get a date and time the suits you best. Last minute bookings are subject to availability and we often book out during school holidays. When booking in advance we understand that your plans might change, and that you may need to reschedule your tour to a different date or time. That’s OK, we are very flexible and can easily make changes for you.

Can I still go if it's raining?

Absolutely! Tours operate in all weather conditions (unless the safety of guests and guides is at risk. eg. when there is thunder and lightening directly overhead, or extreme fire danger). The weather can be completely different on one side of Kangaroo Island to the other and is constantly changing. There is a saying among the locals, “if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes”. Even on rainy days we often only have scattered showers and since the quads can travel both faster than the clouds and in different directions, it is easy to stay out of the rain. Your tour equipment includes optional wet weather gear which utilises the latest technology in waterproof and breathable fabrics to make sure you stay dry and comfortable no matter what the conditions. Always feel free to call our office to take advantage of our local knowledge and get an on-the-spot weather report.

Can I take my camera?

Of course! There are photo opportunities throughout the tours and we encourage you to make these memories last. On the occasion your camera does not fit in your pocket or comfortably/safely with you on your bike it can be packed onto your guides bike and used during pauses on the tour.
