What teachers say:
We organised a school excursion to Kangaroo Island for a week back in October 2023.
As part of the activities, our students got to enjoy a visit to the Island Beehive, which included a tour of the facility. We learned how the honey is made, and we got to taste some fresh honey as well.
A big hit with our kids of all ages (including our teachers) was the Little Sahara Dune Buggy Tour. Staff were very friendly, informative, and educational, and our students had a blast on the dune tour.
We also spent some time on the water with KI Outdoor Adventures doing a Kayak Tour. Our guides were very friendly, safety conscious, and fantastic with our younger students.
Over the past few years, we have been taking groups of Year 6 students to Little Sahara as part of our adventure camp on Kangaroo Island. Our experiences have been nothing short of incredible. The staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and highly skilled and were flexible with our bookings and catered to all our needs. They were able to accommodate large groups of students, offering a rotation of activities and providing lasting memories for both the students and teachers.
The self-guided sandboarding experience was a highlight for many, with time allowed for students to move at their own pace and participate as much or as little as they wanted.
The buggy tours were filled with excitement and provided our adrenalin seekers a thrill they wonât forget.
The Little Sahara staff were also keen to share about the native flora and fauna of Kangaroo Island, as we stopped along the way for some koala sightings and some facts about the revegetation occurring following the bushfires. The students also took a lot away from the beach clean-up and we were grateful for the service-learning opportunity. It was an eye-opening experience and the students left motivated to raise more awareness about ocean conservation and were proud of their efforts in helping in some small way.
Overall, Little Sahara provided a rich learning experience for our students, an opportunity to challenge themselves and build more resilience and a fun filled day of adventure that is sure to be remembered for years to come.
